Candidates may elect to enter into the Ordained Minister Program at Harmony Grove Spiritualist Association after the successful completion of one year as an HGSA Associate Minister. Upon acceptance into this program by the Education Committee, this program generally takes one year to complete.
Candidates in the Ordained Minister program will undergo a course of study to further explore their spiritual leadership and counseling skills. Ministerial skills, ethics, church leadership, as well as lyceum development (adult, teen and children’s “Sunday School”) are some of the core areas of focus in this program. Service projects may be included as a part of the requirements.

Candidates must meet all the required 20 units of course work and practical experience requirements for this certificate. This includes: the successful participation in approved platform presentations for each area, passing of oral and written exams, letters of testimony from qualified ministers as to the candidate’s character and ministerial abilities, as well as a Letter of Sponsorship from an HGSA approved minister.
Participants in this program must maintain on-going membership in the Harmony Grove Spiritualist Association. Conferring ordination as a Spiritualist minister takes place upon approval from the Board of Directors. The ordination ceremony occurs at the close of Summer Institute.
Upon conferring the title of Ordained Spiritualist Minister, you are legally entitled to perform all the duties of a minister including spiritual counseling, healing, religious, and wedding ceremonies. You may even start your own church! You are entitled to accept compensation for your services and file taxes as a clergy member.
